Family
Resource Center During the past year, the agency's Family Resource Center hosted over 600 community residents in a series of Open Houses that were designed to promote community involvement and children's health care. A core group of 62 families were served during the first program year. To ensure services responsive to community needs, a needs assessment survey was conducted. As a result of the survey classes in parenting, nutrition, and health education were offered, a weekly food distribution program was developed, ESL classes taught by LAUSD were offered, and various cultural and art programs were provided throughout the year. The Family Resource Center served as the hub for a five member collaborative which is funded by the State Office of Child Abuse Prevention. L.A.
Bridges Program
Family Resource Center During the coming year, PCS, as lead agency, will be joined by Teen Post, Inc. and Avalon Carver Community Center to provide services to students of Los Angeles Academy Middle School under newly acquired funding from the City of Los Angeles Community Development Department. This program identifies at-risk students and engages them in after-school activities that will enhance their school performance, reduce their affiliation with gangs and improve school and community safety. The collaboration will serve 260 youth each year. Outpatient
