To strengthen family functioning and to promote self-sufficiency we continue to provide services for the parents of the youth enrolled in our after-school programs. Through our Family Resource Centers, parents are able to access community resources and to develop advocacy skills that will empower them to have a greater positive impact on their individual family outcomes.

Parent Education
Classes are provided in Spanish and English which assist parents in meeting the everyday challenges of child rearing and family management. The curriculum includes strategies for anger management, behavior modification tools, home skills, and provides a forum where parents can discuss contemporary problems. The classes also provide an opportunity for fellowship.

Childcare Referrals
Our resource center provides referrals for local childcare and early education centers.

ESL Classes
In affiliation with the Los Angeles Unified School District, ESL classes are provided at the Family Resource Center located at 3800 S. Figueroa, Los Angeles, CA. These classes prepare participants for future employment and assists them in the expansion of their communication skills.

Food Distribution Program
As a member of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, we are able to bring surplus food items to the families we serve. Each Friday, food items are distributed at the Family Resource Center 4429 S. Broadway. For more information regarding services specifically for families, click here.

For seniors over 60, a special Brown Bay Program is held at the Multipurpose Center located at 5133  Crenshaw.  For more information regarding services specifically for seniors aged 60+, click here.

Substance Abuse Recovery Services
For parents who may be struggling with family substance abuse issues, our Outpatient Program click here is available for those aged 18+. Evening and daytime appointments are available which provides personalized counseling, confidential testing and self-help groups. Bilingual (English and Spanish) services are available.
